Why don’t cows wear pants?

Job 1:21: And he said,”Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

When we look at animals, are they naked? They don’t wear clothes, do they? Why?

When Adam and Eve sinned in Genesis 3, they discovered that they were “naked” and they were ashamed. Before that, there was no sin or evil and no awareness of nakedness.

Their “nakedness” was physically real and spiritually real. Physically, they were naked. Spiritually, they were naked and ashamed of their sin. They had no righteousness in themselves to cover up their nakedness though they tried to wear fig leaves. Their own efforts were insufficient and they needed God to clothe them and He did so with a cost: blood of an animal was shed to cover their sins. Many years later, blood was shed by our Savior to cover all of our sins!

So why don’t animals wear clothes? Are they naked?

The answer is that animals are not made in the image of God with a soul as humans are. Therefore, clothes are not needed for them, but they are needed for us. Are you wearing your own garments, spiritually speaking, OR are you wearing the RIGHTEOUS ROBE of CHRIST to cover your sins?

Job 1:21 And he said,”Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
