Small Groups Complement What We Do at TIL

August 31, 2009 Leave a comment

We love small group discipleship. We believe TIL complements small groups by providing two-on-one, pin-pointed & micro-discipleship in the body of Christ.

We seek to strengthen the body by addressing real problems. We serve many families right now and see God work in marriages weekly!

Micro-discipleship is simply dealing with a problem issue with the Holy Scriptures as the “prescription” while pointing people to Christ’s healing power! Our goal is to help people get involved in small groups for support and encouragement in the body of Christ!

We’re looking forward to teaching in more small groups in weeks to come!

God Offers More

August 30, 2009 Leave a comment

I told someone recently that I appreciate the heart’s desire of many in psychology who want to help hurting souls. These folks are compassionate. It’s just that their goal is not enough. God offers more. God wants more!

I know that God offers more than just help. God offers Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. God offers a relationship to us that is eternal. God offers us His wisdom and His shepherding and His power and His purpose for us in this life and in the life to come (eternal).

At TIL, helping people is our secondary goal and really is a by-product of achieving our first goal: glorifying God by reconciling people to Christ. We want to see people saved and surrendered to Christ. We want them to serve Him by functioning in His body. We want to see them overcome their problems through obedience to Christ so that they can comfort and help others to be reconciled to God (II Cor. 1:3-4). We want to see them TRANSFORMED and believe God is still in that business of transforming His children by His grace!

Not only do we want people helped, we want God glorified through all we say and do. We honor His Word of truth and deliver it in the love of Christ.

God offers more than just temporary relief from problems – that’s all the world and psychology can offer. God offers that and more – eternal life!

Neighborhood of Make-Believe

It’s amazing the lies we tell ourselves to pretend as though there is no sin in this world. It reminds me of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

There were never any un-resolvable problems in that neighborhood!

But you know what?  In reality, there are never any un-resolvable sin problems in God’s world either thanks to Jesus Christ!

SIN is a RESOLVABLE problem when we humble ourselves, confess our sins, ask Jesus to forgive us, trust in His sacrifice upon the cross, and then live out our faith through repentance for the glory of God.

The Neighborhood of Make-Believe had no problems – likewise, as Christians, we should be joyous, too, as we are FORGIVEN and can abide in His grace daily to overcome all of our problems through Christ who strengthens us!

Great Track 2 on Saturday!

August 24, 2009 Leave a comment

What a great time we had remembering the GREAT COMMISSION of Matt. 28:18-20 and the importance of discipleship at our training course on Saturday past!

God is so good to give us the almost 20 faithful people (including Jason and Shirley) who labor in love with our ministry!

Now, we have a practical tool to use to strengthen the body of Christ.

I hope you’ll plan to be with us again on Sep. 26th when we study Depression, Self-Worth, Divorce, and Sexual “Addiction.”

Daughters make things beautiful

August 23, 2009 2 comments

I love having two daughters. They beautify the things in my life.

They have an eye for beauty and color and the like. I certainly don’t have that gift and I so enjoy watching the handiwork of their little hands.

Not sure why I’m blogging this. Just an observation.

-Mark (thankful for all of the ladies who beautify this earth with their talents and abilities)
