Special Thanks to all of you who are called to TIL!

December 31, 2008 Leave a comment

I want to thank all of you who have supported our ministry by giving your time to us in prayer, time in volunteering to work in the ministry, and investing in the Kingdom through financial gifts in 2008!!!

We are so glad that you are partnering with us and could NOT do this ministry without you! It is a total TEAM effort and it is fun to watch everyone use their God-given gifts for God’s glory in serving hurting souls.

Thank you for serving Christ with us in this new, upstart ministry!

-Mark (the best is yet to come – it will be an exciting 2009 as we watch our loving Savior work in the hearts of His people)

New Year’s Resolutions…. Got vision?

December 29, 2008 4 comments

It’s that time of year again… As the last few days of 2008 find their way into the history book, what do you find yourself saying “Next year I am going to…” about?  There are plenty of typical New Year’s Resolutions ranging from Losing Weight, Managing Finances, Working Out, Better Family Time, etc….  What about Spiritual resolutions?  What really matters long term?  When it comes to your walk with the Lord, are you closer to Him now than this time last year?

The Bible states that without vision, the people cast of restraint. Proverbs 29:18  It is absolutely crucial for us to have short term and long term vision  (resolutions as they are called this time of year).   What are you focused on?  If it’s God, then you are bound to have a vision outside of your own abilities. You see, God is the great vision giver!  He wants to use us for His good purposes.  Everyone quotes Jeremiah 29:11,  but have you seen in the verse that it’s God that gives us the future and hope. And they are both tied to one another!

So if you aren’t currently following a God given vision, what better time than New Year’s to get your schedule cleared and begin to listen to Him.  He has your plan. He holds your future. He is your hope….

Funny, personal story about a “slack hand”

December 27, 2008 1 comment

A year ago, my 4 year old son had a bad accident with a head injury. He’s fine now (and he’s 5) – doing great.

At the time, however, at the children’s hospital, he had to all of the tests, stitches, etc. One thing they gave him was medicine called ketamine that is like anesthesia and made him forget the surgical, head stitches he received.

Every day that week, my wife was really honing in on working hard and what it means to do your best for the Lord. She homeschools and used the Bible teaching time to talk about different proverbs and passages of the Bible on hard work.

One of those she used was Proverbs 10:4 (ESV): “A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.”*

She had hammered it home well apparently. Before we were leaving the hospital, the doctors asked my son to take just a few steps. When he did, he looked down at the floor and my wife and I overheard him say to himself with a serious tone, shaking his head, and this somber look on his face: “Whoa, I feel like I have a slack hand.”

My wife had emphasized that laziness and drunkenness often cause one to have a “slack hand” which leads to poverty and he RECOGNIZED what he was feeling was making him feel woozy and lazy like a drunkard!

It’s amazing what the Lord brings to our remembrance when we are taught His Word – even at age 4!

-Mark (thankful for a diligent wife who teaches God’s Word to our children;  for God’s merciful sparing of my son’s life; and His teaching in the heart of my little one – the Holy Spirit was at work in conjunction with God’s Word!)

SHARE a Christmas Story…

December 26, 2008 Leave a comment

For those willing, I wanted to open up the forum to share a Christmas Story from your family or loved ones… Maybe share a tradition, or a memory from childhood. Perhaps a favorite God moment from those family gatherings…

One of the most special memories I have from this Christmas  is that my 78 year old grandfather is around for us to enjoy his company, and of course preside over the family prayer.  Earlier this year he had a massive blood clot in his brain, and had brain surgery, in which the doctors did not expect him to live.  But GOD!!  Below is a picture of my Papaw, Billy F. Williams.  He is a Mighty man of God, who has faithfully served Christ and lived out his faith through his walk for over 65 years!

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32

Thank you Lord for giving us another Christmas with him and Mamaw!
