About Us

Truth in Love…Reclaiming the Care of Souls to Their Rightful Owner

Truth in Love is an innovative, on-location ministry to the body of Christ through the local church. Our staff team travels to local churches to establish a biblical counseling, discipleship, and mentoring ministry at each partnering church. While serving the church members and the surrounding community as outreach, we also teach and equip the church leaders and called lay persons to competently provide shepherding care for God’s “flock” of children (I Peter 5:2).

Truth In Love seeks to equip all saints, pastors and lay leaders alike, to disciple other Christians using the counsel from the Word of God alone (Eph. 4:12). The long-term goal of Truth in Love’s presence in your local church is to have successfully trained and mentored the leadership so that you can maintain your own counseling ministry utilizing your trained team of leaders. At that time, Truth in Love will fully commit the oversight of the ministry to the local church body, moving on to assist another church.

Truth in Love is currently providing Biblical Counseling & Discipleship services at several churches and ministries in the Birmingham area. If you are interested in personally receiving free biblical counseling or reconciliation counseling to resolve conflicts, please contact our office mananger, Ronny, by phone at 205-910-0085 or email Shirley at shirley@histruthinlove.org.

    Hello Mark,

I recently moved to Birmingham from Canada. It has been quite a transition for our family of seven! My family was missionaries in Newfoundland, Canada for four years through the North American Mission Board. Now, since we have relocated, we are going to the church at Brook Hills. I graduated from Southern Seminary and first got a taste of Biblical Counseling through Dr. Stuart Scott’s training. I wasn’t in one of his classes but heard him speak and friends have taught me a lot through his ministry and teaching. After reading his material, I quickly learned to love Ed Welch, David Powlison, and Paul David Tripp. I am familiar with your book on addiction as well. Thank you for that wonderful resource.
Yesterday, I was talking with my friend Deric Thomas and he told me that I should inquire with your ministry to see if you have any openings as far as employment is concerned. I would be willing to help out in any way that I could. If you would like, I could send you my resume.

Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.

    By His grace,
    Steve Grissom

    Hi, Steve,

We would love to be able to hire some more folks because we need more laborers for the harvest. Right now, we are looking into allowing people to raise their own support to come aboard and do ministry with us. We have many open doors for ministry but inadequate finances to hire. So, this is one way to grow the ministry.

    Let’s keep in touch,
    Mark
