“Satan loves you almost as much as you do!”

December 17, 2010 Leave a comment

Someone reminded me recently by saying this: “Satan loves you almost as much as you do!”

That’s a strong statement when in reality Satan hates us according to John 10:10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Only Jesus really loves you because He alone is the good shepherd of your soul!

But the point behind that comment is somewhat true. Satan presents himself as an angel of light according to 2 Cor. 11:14: “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” Therefore, Satan wants you to think that he loves you and wants good things for you that you already want yourself.

But a bigger enemy than Satan that you must face daily is your own flesh and its lusts & desires for the things of this world. Your flesh gets tempted by Satan but you must learn to say “no” to your flesh and Satan while saying “yes” to obeying God and doing what is right.

We need to love God more than anything else in the world, including ourselves. When we understand this, Luke 14:26-27 makes sense as Jesus said to the multitude: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. – The Holy Bible : English standard version. 2001 (Lk 14:26-27). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

Count the costs of following Jesus. You must be willing to deny yourself and “bear your cross” which means you must consider yourself DEAD daily to be His disciple. This is the message of biblical counseling, too, to deny yourself for the glory of God.

Strong stuff!

Who are you battling?

When people fast, they realize how strong their sinful, fleshly nature is. They are denying themselves the comfort and sustenance of food. It’s very difficult to fast because of our flesh primarily.

Yet I hear people say that they are battling Satan. Are they really battling him? Or are they battling their flesh? Or in reality, are they battling the Holy Spirit of God?

Romans 6 reminds us that we are set free from sin but our battle is continually with our fleshly, sinful nature.

That’s why I deal with sin issues in counseling primarily. These issues must be addressed and taken to the Cross for forgiveness.

I hate psychology, not psychologists…there is a difference!

Please understand that my strong blogs are against the THEORIES and IDEAS of psychology NOT the people who believe them. I love psychologists and have some great brothers/sisters who are doing their best to help people as psychiatrists and psychologists. In fact, Dr. James Dobson has been a man I have admired for many years though I disagree with some of his beliefs. He is a precious man!

We love people, even those we disagree with.

Also, we love people who are lost like those who trust in false religions like Buddhism. We love athiests and agnostics. We love people not the ideas they represent.

Pray for those who believe the lies of FALSE RELIGIONS. I pray for the people but I hate and oppose their ideas with the Word of God. Do you think Jesus would shy away from speaking the truth in love about false religions and false ideas in psychology and in the world like “man is born good” or “alcoholism is a disease” and the like?

Strong blogs lately because we have a strong enemy in Satan the father of all lies.

Let’s stand for truth of God’s Word. Let’s stand for Christ. Let’s oppose the lies of Satan that were propaged by Freud, Skinner, Wundt, Adler, Jung, and Maslow…but let’s pray for and love the sinner!

What if the SATANIC International Version (SIV) existed?

December 29, 2009 5 comments

This is purely a thought: What would the SATANIC International Version of the Bible (SIV) look like IF it existed?

Kinda weird to think about I know. I admit it. I’ve had one too many bratwursts today and now my thinking has gone haywire!

My answer is that it would be the exact same version of the Bible that we have EXCEPT that it would be misinterpreted and have wrong commentary notes in it!

Think about it. In Matthew 4, Satan tempted Jesus by MISUSING and misinterpreting the BIBLE to appeal to Jesus’ human nature. It was God’s own words that Satan used to tempt Christ!

How many people today twist the Bible and use it for their own purposes? Sadly, we can all take the Bible and use its meaning to be manipulative and hurtful AND justify our actions & words as the “truth hurts.”

For this reason, as biblical counselors, we must always deliver the truth in love. Not truth and love but truth IN love. There is a difference.

-Mark (glad there is NOT a Satanic version of God’s Word around today)

A defeated foe!

Last time I checked, Satan is a defeated foe!

In Luke 10:18, Jesus said “…I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven…” That ought to motivate to trust in God in all biblical counseling sessions for all problems!

Enough said.

Public Enemy #1 for the Church

April 8, 2009 2 comments

The Bible says that Satan presents himself as an “angel of light” meaning that he appears to be good and from God (2 Cor. 11:14). It’s his disguise.

Some of the lies of this world that Satan uses – that are disguised as good – are the lies found in secular, counseling psychology. These man-centered ideas are presented as helpful and life-giving when they are really just the opposite: hurtful and bondage-making, eventually bringing spiritual death.

Sigmund Freud opened his psychology practice on Easter Sunday in direct defiance to God. Carl Jung and other psychologists hated God. Yet the church continues to refer its flock of sheep (members) to secular psychologists for “real answers” from supposedly “real experts”. When will it stop?

It will stop when God’s people begin to see through the empty promises of psychology – when Satan’s lies are exposed by God’s truth.

Church leaders must step up to protect God’s flock in their churches by providing biblical counseling, biblical discipleship, biblical small groups, and biblical coaching/mentoring for their hurting members.

That’s one reason we started this ministry – to help churches to do what they are supposed to do.

The biggest reason we started this ministry is to defeat “public enemy” #1 – Satan and his psychological lies!

How do you defeat the 3 Lies of Satan?

March 1, 2009 Leave a comment

In Matthew 4, how did Jesus overcome Satan’s temptations to sin?

Jesus used the Word of God – rightly interpreted- to defeat Satan. We must do the same. We must KNOW the Word of God and apply it to the situation correctly always remembering Who God is and that we are to serve and honor Him first – rather than to please ourselves.

Quite simply, Jesus was not interested in the self-promoting lies of Satan but in the long-term, God-honoring PLAN of the Father.

We keep this same mindset and studying and living biblical principles enables us to think, speak, and act for the glory of God.

-Mark (grateful that it’s God’s Word that overcomes Satan and the lies of this world and not my own ideas or strength)
