a caution to the presumptuous

I was sent a dynamite little booklet written by C.H. Spurgeon based upon I Cor. 10:12: “Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall (KJV).” In context, it’s talking about how frail we are and susceptible to temptations to sin. We think we are so strong but the Bible teaches us that we are weak so we must use great caution and be led by the Holy Spirit.

How much do we PRESUME upon the Lord expecting Him to do OUR will? We get it backwards. I know I do sometimes.

This little verse and booklet challenged me not to presume upon the will of God but to do His will according to the Holy Scriptures. It is a great verse to use with counselees who are overconfident and think they have it all figured out.

We need Christ and His wisdom – hourly not just daily!

-Mark (remembering that the kingdom is about the King, not me, and I am to do His will)

    Mark,
I was baptised yesterday at Macland Baptist Church. This was an incredible experience. I was baptised as an infant in the Episcopal church, but this was the real thing. Thanks be to God.
What is the name of the C.H. Spurgion book that is based on 1 Cor. 10:12 ?
    Bill
